না শীত না বসন্ত

না এখিলা পাত ফুটাৰ ক্ষান্তি

অনুকুল পৰিৱেশলৈ প্ৰতীক্ষাৰ ক্ষান্তি

শিমলুৰ নাথাকে

লঠঙা গছত ওলোমাৰ পৰিণাম

শিমলুয়ে নুবুজে

বিনাৰক্ষে ফুলাৰ বিপদ

শিমলুয়ে নাজানে

নতুন পাতলৈ ৰাইজ উত্ৰাৱল হ’লেও

শিমলু কিন্তু সৰে আত্মাভিমানেৰে

শিমলু হাততসাৰে-ভৰিতসাৰে

নমৰহে

অতিক্ৰান্ত আসক্তি

বিফল আড়ম্বৰ

চোৱা,

আমাৰ মাটিত সৌৱা টিকটিকীয়া ৰঙা দলিছা

Red, Still (Translation)

Do you remember picturing for me
The ximolu trees that had lost all their flowers?

To wait for conducive conditions
Is not in ximolu

The dangers of hanging from a bare tree
Ximolu does not measure

To bloom without protection
Ximolu does not fear

Even as people wait for new leaves
Ximolu makes way proudly

Ximolu does not wither quietly

Spent passion
Failed grandeur

Yet

See!
On our land lies the deepest red carpet
Of fallen ximolu

মই কিলবিলাই ফুৰোঁ

Cockroach (Translated)

Will you draw a cockroach?
A red-brown cockroach,
a cockroach
in its hard, unyielding skin.

Across the page of your sketchbook,
my half-dozen spiny legs
keep skittering.

With revolution-fever,
I cannot sleep.

But tomorrow
(who knows, perhaps today itself)
I will change colour.

Will you draw
a colour-changing cockroach?

Shedding the red-brown,
the hard and the strong,
I will turn white.

My skin
cream-coloured,
soft,
half-translucent.

Will you take me
for a chameleon?

Or will you draw me
even in my weakness —
in that brief, temporary pallor,
in the low hour just before
colour returns to me?

Welcome to my city, artist,
where, in the damp heat,
I keep scuttling.
